FOR YOUR INFORMATION.....................April 4, 1989 Sun Co. has asked the Federal Trade Commission to approve its proposed divestiture of light petroleum product terminals and related gasoline stations in the Binghamton, N.Y., and Williamsport, Penn., areas. Commission approval of the divestitures is required by a consent order charging that Sun's acquisition of Atlantic Petroleum Corp. could lessen competition in the distribution and marketing of gasoline and other light petroleum products in the two areas. Sun has proposed divesting the Atlantic terminal in Binghamton and 10 related gas stations to Amerada Hess Corp., another oil company. Sun also proposed divesting the Williamsport terminal to The Belcher Co. of New York Inc., and five related gas stations to Coastal Mart Inc. Belcher and Coastal Mart are both owned by Coastal Corp. The petition to approve the divestitures will be subject to public comment for 30 days, until xxx xx.
