The Summer 2009 Edition of the DOT/OSDBU Newsletter is Now Available

The US DOT/OSDBU is pleased to make the Summer 2009 edition of The Transportation Link available for download. In this issue we highlight the appointment of John Porcari, as the new Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transportation. We also have an article about a recent testimony made by Departmental officials at various Congressional hearings on the effectiveness DOT's small business programs and the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program in ensuring that small and disadvantaged businesses are afforded contracting opportunities at the national, state and local levels.  DOT's testimony emphasized the fact that small businesses are the drivers of the economy and will play a leading role in moving the nation on the road to recovery. 

Other articles include a highlight of DOT’s effort to move transportation funds appropriated under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) and we introduce some of the work completed thus far in our new Recovery Corner feature. Also, we have information on new banks added to DOT/OSDBU's Short Term Lending Program, and a discussion on proposed rule changes to the DBE program.  In addition we have our regular features including the Procurement Assistance Page, Follow the Recovery Money and the Calendar of Events.
