About The Institute

The National Institute for Literacy was established in 1991 by the National Literacy Act and extended under the Workforce Investment Act.

Darlene McDonald

Darlene McDonald joined the staff of the National Institute for Literacy in September 1992. Ms. McDonald currently assists the Communications Director in the processing of all the Institute's publications. Prior to this position, she served as administrative assistant in the Institute's grants and procurement. Before joining the Institute, Ms. McDonald previously held grants and contracts positions with the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. Darlene has over 18 years experience as a career Federal employee.
