EndNote Web: Using EndNote from Anywhere

Description:

EndNote Web is a new web-based research and writing tool and a perfect complement to EndNote and Reference Manager. Add, transfer or import your references to EndNote Web and access your library via a web browser. Use Cite While You Write from both EndNote and EndNote Web, in a single manuscript.

EndNote Web lets you:

  • Search ISI Web of Knowledge, PubMed and hundreds of library OPACs directly.
  • Import references from hundreds of online bibliographic databases and organize a library of references in many languages.
  • Store up to 10,000 records per EndNote Web account.
  • Edit references—add notes or keywords—and modify any field.
  • Use over 2,300 publishing styles to format in-text citations and bibliographies.
  • Insert references and format papers instantly with Cite While You Write in Microsoft Word (requires plug-in).
  • Format papers in other word processors using RTF (Rich Text Format).
  • Simplify collaboration with colleagues by sharing EndNote Web folders.
  • Use EndNote Web toolbars in Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla to access your reference library in one click and to capture citation data easily (requires plug-in).
  • Easily transfer references to and from EndNote X.0.2-EndNote X2.
  • Export or import libraries from earlier versions of EndNote or Reference Manager.

Notes:

Installing Plug-Ins (Cite While You Write and Toolbar):
The Cite While You Write plug-in for Word is required to use Cite While You Write. If you are using Cite While You Write for the first time, you will need to configure your login information. The toolbar for Internet Explorer is installed by default, but its use is optional.

Remote Access to Your EndNote Web Account:
To set up remote access for EndNote Web, you must first register and log in from an IP-authenticated workstation at NIH. This confirms that you are a valid user and initiates roaming access for twelve months. After twelve months, you are required to log in again from an IP-authenticated workstation to re-establish your association with NIH.
