Google for Researchers, Springer Protocols, The Cochrane Library, ProQolid, and More

Google for Researchers: March 17, 1-2:30 p.m., Lipsett Amphitheater (Building 10)
Galen Panger, a representative of Google for Non-Profits, will visit the NIH campus March 17, 2009 from 1-2:30 p.m. to speak about "Google for Researchers." The talk will take place in the Lipsett Amphitheater (Building 10, Clinical Center). Overflow seating will be available at Masur Auditorium and the NIH Library Training Room. The presentation will be webcast by NIH VideoCasting and Podcasting.

Springer Protocols: 30 Years of Reproducible Laboratory Protocols
Springer Protocols provides desktop access to protocols in the life and biomedical sciences drawn from Methods in Molecular Biology, The Proteomics Handbook, Springer Laboratory Manuals, and additional sources. Comment on protocols, save favorites, upload personal protocols, and set up email notices for new protocols in addition to searching, viewing, and downloading.

The Cochrane Library: Overviews of Reviews Now Available
The Cochrane Library, a collection of reviews providing independent evidence to support decision-making in health care, recently added a new feature: Overviews of Reviews. Each Overview analyzes interventions for a specific condition by summarizing the results of multiple Cochrane reviews. As an example, see the first Overview issued, Interventions for neovascular age-related macular degeneration.

ProQolid: Guidance in the Selection of Quality of Life Instruments
Use ProQolid to understand patient reported outcome instruments, identify instruments, and select the most relevant instruments. Descriptions of instruments are compiled from the literature and validated by the authors. Close to 650 descriptions are available, from "10-item Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Quality of Life Questionnaire" to the "Zung Self-rating Anxiety Scale."
