Safeguards Laboratory National User Facility

The Safeguards Laboratory (SL) provides an internationally recognized capability for conducting hands-on testing, evaluation, and validation of radiation measurement equipment, and customized training for integrated safeguards methods, procedures, and instrumentation. It is devoted to research and international collaboration through the International Safeguards Program and the Nuclear Securities Technology Program. The SL User Facility is accessible to everyone, including employees, nonemployees, U. S. Citizens, and foreign guests.

The SL staff includes internationally recognized nuclear engineers, certified health physicists, nondestructive analysis experts, and international safeguards experts. Customers and users include numerous corporations in the private sector radiation detection industry, university nuclear engineering and nonproliferation programs, Department of Energy (DOE), DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Department of Defense/Defense Threat Reduction Agency, national laboratories, International Atomic Energy Agency, and foreign safeguards organizations.
