“Attending any of the United States Service Academies is a great honor and a great responsibility,” said Napolitano. “Continuing your education at one of the academies allows you to serve our Nation, a true challenge and privilege.” The five service academies in the United States offering young men and women superior quality education while preparing them for an officer's commission in the armed forces are: The Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy, the Naval Academy, and the Coast Guard Academy. The Coast Guard Academy is the only one of the academies that offers appointments on the basis of an annual nationwide competition; therefore no Congressional nominations are available.
