Celebrating 50 Years

In 2011 Peace Corps will celebrate its 50th anniversary. To commemorate these 50 years of service and to honor the individuals who have dedicated themselves to promoting the organization's mission of world peace and friendship, the Peace Corps is helping organize events and exhibitions in cities across the U.S. and in each country where Peace Corps currently serves. Please continue reading to learn how you can help celebrate Peace Corps' rich history and dedicated Volunteers.

  • Contribute to the Peace Corps Digital Library

The Peace Corps Digital Library provides a searchable collection of electronic Peace Corps materials from 1961-present. Peace Corps invites current and returned Volunteers to share stories and photos from their Peace Corps experience. Stories will be collected from those who served in each generation of the Peace Corps, from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and on through to the present.

In countries where Peace Corps Volunteers serve, we are planning both 50th anniversary events and a commemorative 50th Anniversary Partnership Program project. We will add event details as they become known. Additionally, the 50th Anniversary Partnership Program projects will be identified and highlighted.
