Clifford G. Shull Fellowship Program

The Neutron Scattering Science Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) announces establishment of the Clifford G. Shull Fellowship. Corecipient of the 1994 Nobel Prize in physics, Shull began his work n 1946 at what is now ORNL. He has been called the “Father of Neutron Scattering,” and this fellowship has been established in recognition of his pioneering work in this field.

The goal of this fellowship is to attract new scientific talent to ORNL for the development of its neutron science program. We are looking for candidates with exceptional ability who are capable of developing innovative research programs and who show the promise of outstanding leadership.

Shull fellows will be sponsored by the Neutron Scattering Science Division which includes the Spallation Neutron Source and High Flux Isotope Reactor facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA. Fellowships will be two-year appointments renewable for a third.

Qualifications:

- Ph.D. minimum
- No more than three years past completion of Ph.D.
- Not currently occupying an ORNL postdoctoral position
