The mission of the Energy and Environment (E&E) Division is to serve USDA by providing policy, guidance, information, and coordination of external reporting for departmental agencies and staff offices in these areas:

  • Alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles for USDA fleets
  • Energy efficiency and energy and water conservation for USDA facilities
  • Green Purchasing including recycled content, biobased, Energy Star and other green products and services for use in USDA programs and operations
  • Waste prevention and recycling

The E&E staff works with USDA agency personnel to accomplish the government-wide goals and requirements in each of these areas as established by law, executive orders, and policy.
