Overview

pam_krb5 2.2.14 through 2.3.4, as used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, generates different password prompts depending on whether the user account exists, which allows remote attackers to enumerate valid usernames.

Red Hat is aware of this issue and is tracking it via the following bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2009-1384 This issue did not affect the versions of the pam_krb5 package, as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1, 3 or 4. This issue affect the version of the pam_krb5 package as shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this issue as having low security impact, a future update may address this flaw.
