Please don't allow any organization to use SSN numbers unless it is strickly for income tax purposes. Here in Missouir, I neede my SSN card for my drivers license to prove my citizenship, you go to the doctor, apply for a job (don't have it yet) get a cell phone, etc and everyone wants / needs my SSN number. I am one of those lucky vets and a member of the AICPA who had our identification taken. I am having a real hard time getting credit, or information about my own credit history, as there is such a hold on my info that it took 5 months just to get a credit report. Things are such a pain that my wife and I have finally started using her information for any credit info. can't there be some other method of traciking who I am, for credit, medical and employment information that has nothing to do with income taxes. but making me reveal this number makes me even more open to identy theft -- so I would like to have my SSN number used for only income taxes -- as my card says this is not an id. for tax purposes only.
