Private Sector Use of SSNs I feel that the SSN should be used for only Social Security. When it is used on your Medicare card, that you need to carry in your wallet, it is a chance for identify theft. Also all the medical profession, uses your SSN. This is also cause for Identify Theft. The SSN should ONLY be used for Social Security. If private industry needs a number, then they should create one. Thanks for your consideration Linda
