SSN's are vital to confirming the identity of debtors, location of residential addresses, employment and other vital functions to the efficient, responsible and lawful pursuit of debt collection. Not only is it a benefit to the collection industry but it is vital to protection of privacy of individuals so that the correct person is contacted about their debt obligation and not just another person with a similar/same name.
