Developing a Greenhouse Gas Management Strategy:
Workshop for Federal Agencies and Intergovernmental Organizations
January 15, 2008
EPA East 1153
1201 Constitution Avenue N.W.
Washington, DC 20004
9:00am-1:00pm
Since 2002, EPA’s Climate Leaders program has provided valuable guidance and recognition to leading companies across many industries to help them develop and implement long-term comprehensive climate change strategies. Recognizing that many of the lessons learned through assisting private companies are applicable to the public sector, Climate Leaders has partnered with the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive to offer a free half-day workshop in Washington, D.C. to train federal agencies and intergovernmental organizations in developing a comprehensive strategy for managing greenhouse gas emissions, including:
- developing a GHG inventory and management plan
- setting a GHG reduction goal
- tracking progress over time as reduction projects are implemented
A robust GHG management strategy will also assist the federal sector in meeting the goals of Federal Executive Order 13423, Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy, and Transportation Management, which directs agencies to "improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions...through reduction of energy intensity..."
This training is free and offered to employees from federal agencies and intergovernmental organizations. Each participant is responsible for travel and per diem expenses.
Registration is available at www.fedcenter.gov. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as registration is limited to 100 participants. No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
Registration will be available beginning November 26, 2007.
