In fact, amongst tribal college students, the average student is a 27-year-old single mother of three, and is often the first in her family to attend college. These students know that they will have to juggle many responsibilities: children, work, and studies, and sometimes there isn’t enough money to meet all of their obligations.

That is where the American Indian College Fund can help. Ninety-one percent of Fund scholarship recipients are "non-traditional" students— they have dependents, are older than 24, work full-time—or a combination of these characteristics. »More

The Travelers Foundation Grants $35,000 to American Indian College Fund for Scholarships
The Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of Travelers, has granted the American Indian College Fund $35,000 for scholarships for 10 American Indian students.

Eight American Indian students who are residents of Minnesota, Washington, Montana, and/or Kansas will receive scholarships in the amount of $1,250 per semester for the academic year under the grant. To be eligible, students must also have a 2.5 grade-point average and be studying business, accounting, computer science, computer technology, engineering, and mathematics at tribal colleges in those states. The tribal colleges include Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, Leech Lake Tribal College, White Earth Tribal and Community College, Northwest Indian College, Salish Kootenai College, Blackfeet Community College, and Haskell Indian Nations University.
