Union Pacific Streamliner Federal Credit Union Returns to Member Control

Alexandria, VA, December 17, 2007 - The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board has returned control of Union Pacific Streamliner Federal Credit Union, Omaha, Nebraska, to its members. All material concerns were resolved during the credit union’s 22 month conservatorship. 

Chartered in 1937, Union Pacific Streamliner FCU primarily serves the headquarters employees and family members of Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha. The credit union was placed into conservatorship February 16, 2006, with the goal of returning the credit union operation to member control. Union Pacific Streamliner FCU has assets of $28 million and serves 7,000 members.

The National Credit Union Administration, governed by a three-member board, is the independent federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions.  NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, operations the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of  over 86 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the vast majority of state-chartered credit unions.
