Americans of all ages can improve their health by making wise choices about eating and physical activity. This is the primary message of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005, published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in January 2005.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005 is a 70-page book consisting of 9 focus areas and 41 recommendations (18 targeted to specific populations).
