Abstracts are being requested for the research track for the October 2009 United States Conference on African Immigrant Health. Behavioral and clinical scientist, public policy analysts, government officials, academicians and community-service providers are encouraged to submit papers, to present current findings and formulate future research directions on HIV/AIDS and co-factors and co-morbidities in the African immigrant and refugee communities in the United States. The submission deadline is August 15, 2009.

The National Abandoned Infants Assistance Resource Center is soliciting abstracts for articles that will appear in the Spring 2010 issue of The Source. This bi-annual magazine is nationally distributed to more than 3000 administrators, researchers, policy makers and direct line staff in various fields related to perinatal substance abuse, HIV and child welfare. The Spring 2010 issue will focus on describing, understanding and evaluating the role of peer workers (paraprofessionals, advocates) in helping individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and/or substance abuse. Abstracts are due September 15, 2009.

Submissions for presentations are desired from researchers and practitioners for the March 2010 National Conference on Juvenile and Family Law in Las Vegas. Topics can include family violence, education, adoption and health, among others. For questions, contact Diane Barnette, Director of Conference Planning and Marketing, at dbarnette@ncjfcj.org. Proposals should be submitted by September 15, 2009 5 p.m. (PST).

Abstracts are desired for 90-minute workshops for this four-day annual conference from the Fathers and Families Coalition of America, Inc. It is highly encouraged for the workshop to tie into the theme of the conference. Presenters should provide insight and information related to enhancing the abilities of organizations and practitioners to effectively provide services to fathers of diverse backgrounds, such as, issues regarding health, education, religion, cultural diversity, justice system, grandfathers raising grandchildren, fathers with special needs children, foster fathers, incarcerated fathers, and more. The deadline to submit proposals is September 18, 2009.
