Overview

The date handling code in modules/proxy/proxy_util.c (mod_proxy) in Apache 2.3.0, when using a threaded MPM, allows remote origin servers to cause a denial of service (caching forward proxy process crash) via crafted date headers that trigger a buffer over-read.

This issue did not affect the versions of Apache httpd as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1, or 3. For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5, Red Hat is aware of this issue and is tracking it via the following bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2007-3847 The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this issue as having moderate security impact, a future update may address this flaw.
