Photocopying Costs Rise

Effective October 1, 2007, fees have increased for reproductions at all National Archives facilities, including for all commonly-requested genealogical records.

Access Court Case Files in NARA's Southwest Region, Fort Worth, TX

NARA's Southwest Region in Fort Worth, Texas stores closed case files from Federal, U.S. district and bankruptcy courts located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

To obtain access to and copies of case files, you must first contact the court in which the case was closed to obtain the case information. U.S. Courts Locator

Then you may:

  1. Schedule an appointment to visit the Fort Worth facility. We are available at 817-551-2000.

Visiting The Fort Worth Facility

Directions to the Fort Worth Federal Records Center Facility

You MUST make an appointment before visiting the facility. To do so, follow the 4 steps below:

Step 1 - Acquire case information from the Federal court where the case was closed.

For each case, obtain the following information from the court where the case was closed. Your request cannot be processed without all of the following information:

  • City where the court is located:
  • Case file name(s):
  • Case file number:
  • Transfer number:
  • Agency box number:
  • Location number:

Step 2 - Schedule an appointment.

Appointments are scheduled on weekdays between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M by calling 817-551-2000, except Federal holidays. You will have to provide the case information obtained from the court. Please do not travel to the facility without scheduling an appointment because the case file(s) you wish to review will not be available.

Step 3 - Arrive at the appointed time.

Personal items such as briefcases, cellular phones and bags must be checked in a locker or returned to your vehicle. Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in the research room or lobby. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed in the research room and you must provide adult supervision for all children under the age of 14 in the Lobby area. The use of cell phones is prohibited in the lobby and the research room.

Step 4 - Obtain Copies of Documents.

You will be required to identify the pages to be copied. Research room technicians are not qualified to dispense legal advice or assist in selecting documents for reproduction. All questions regarding file contents must be directed to the appropriate Federal court.

Please note:

  • Copy costs are $.90 per copy. Certification of copies is available for $15.00 per certification.

  • Payment for copies is expected at the time the services are rendered.

  • Payment may be made by cash, personal or business check (payable to the National Archives Trust Fund or NATF, valid identification required), or by American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or VISA.

  • No copies will be made after 4:00 P.M.

  • Expect a reasonable amount of time for photocopies to be completed. Photocopy requests of more than 200 pages will require a deposit or method of payment and may be available for pick-up when we notify you or you may choose to have the copies mailed or sent by Federal Express.

Pages exceeding the package maximum require an additional $0.90 per copy charge.  We will notify you for approval of charges before copying is done.
