harkin announces $60,000 in funding for flood recovery in iowa city

Washington—Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced Iowa City was awarded $60,000 as part of flood recovery funds for the creation of a Creative Technologies Incubator through the US Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration.  Harkin is a senior member of the Senate panel that funds economic development projects.

“These funds will help Iowa City rebuild from the 2008 floods by creating and growing companies across multiple industry sectors,” said Harkin.  “I congratulate Iowa City on receiving this award and I know it will aid in continuing the economic revitalization of the city.”

This investment award will help fund a feasibility study and business plan to guide the creation of the Creative Technologies Incubator.  Business Incubators are designed to offer services to companies to strengthen the business and increase longevity.
