Klobuchar Asks FAA to Examine Incident of Plane Stuck at Rochester Airport

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which has oversight over the nation’s air travel system, today sent a letter to the Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) asking the FAA to examine why passengers on a Continental Flight were forced to remain on a plane stuck at the Rochester International Airport for more than six hours.  Continental Flight 2816 was en route from Houston, Intercontinental Airport to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on the evening of August 7th when it was redirected to Rochester International Airport due to severe weather.

Washington, D.C. – With Minnesota’s senior population expected to more than double by 2035 with the aging of the Baby Boom generation, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today introduced three separate pieces of federal legislation designed to support family caregivers and protect consumers from abuses in long-term care insurance.

Klobuchar Receives Cash for Clunkers Assurances from Secretary LaHood

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar brokered a deal with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today that solves a problem unique to Minnesotans participating in the Cash for Clunkers program.  Klobuchar also received a commitment from Secretary LaHood that the Administration will work to fix the computer glitches that have affected dealers in Minnesota.  Klobuchar announced that Minnesota currently ranks in the top ten states for participation in the Cash for Clunkers program, with over $26 million in vouchers requested.

Klobuchar Amendment to Support Dairy Farmers Passes Senate

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Senate today passed an amendment cosponsored by U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to provide additional relief to dairy farmers struggling with plummeting dairy prices.  Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, has actively worked to help support dairy farmers.
