The Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), begun in 1951, is a nonprofit membership organization that serves 12 states throughout the Southeast - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia - and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
SEMC fosters professionalism, mutual support, and communication among its members and the larger museum community. A nonprofit membership organization, SEMC strives to increase educational and professional development opportunities, improve the interchange of ideas and information, and encourage respect and collegiality.
SEMC programs and services include:
- An annual meeting held one of the first three week/weekends
in October (Tuesday through Saturday).
