Who may attend “It’s Alive!
Petals to Primates: Preservation Challenges of Living Collections”?
Attendance at the forum is open to interested staff and board
members of zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, living history
farms, and nature centers. Representatives of funding agencies,
national and regional service organizations, and the media
are also welcome to attend.
Is there a registration fee?
There is no cost to attend. However, pre-registration is required.
The forum is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library
Services and its co-sponsors as part of the Connecting to
Collections initiative. If your plans change after registering
and you are not able to attend, please let us know immediately
by sending an e-mail to trinh@cmpinc.net.
How do I register for the forum?
Use online
registration.
May I pass this information on to a colleague?
Yes, but each attendee must register individually by Thursday,
January 29th.
May I bring a guest to the reception?
The reception is limited to registered participants in the
forum.
I would like to attend the forum but cannot attend
the entire program; is it all right if I only come for one
day?
The program has been developed as a cohesive sequence. We
strongly encourage attendance for both days. If you will only
be able to attend one day, please send an e-mail to ehuxley@heritagepreservation.org
after you register.

How do I make a hotel reservation?
Important notice regarding hotel rooms
The cut-off date for reservations under the group rate has passed. However, rooms may still be available at this rate, pending availability. Overnight accommodations under the group rate were being offered by the Sofia Hotel at a rate of $159.00/night + tax. To make a reservation, please contact the hotel directly at (619) 234-9200 or (800) 826-0009 and mention that you are attending the IMLS Connecting to Collections forum. Please book as soon as possible, as the room block will fill up.

Is shuttle service being offered from the Sofia Hotel
to/from the meeting facility?
Shuttle bus service will be provided at select times between
the Sofia Hotel, the Kroc Institute, and the Zoo. More information
will be sent to registrants in January.

or by car?

What meals will be provided during the forum?
On Thursday, February 18 there will be coffee served in the morning before the forum opens, and a light mid-morning snack. There will be a boxed lunch served during the Connections Lab, and a substantial buffet dinner reception at the zoo at the conclusion of the day’s program.
On Friday, February 19, a light continental breakfast will be served in the morning at the Kroc Institute, and a boxed lunch will be served again during that day’s Connections Lab.
