Pacific Region (Laguna Niguel, CA)

The Regional Archives in Laguna Niguel.

We maintain retired records from Federal agencies and courts in Arizona, southern California, and Clark County, Nevada. These records constitute a major resource for the study of Native American history, Naval history, westward migration, Asian immigration, civil rights, and other subjects. There is also a Records Management staff to assist Federal agencies within the region.

Directions:

By Car

The facility is in Laguna Niguel, 65 miles south of Los Angeles and 70 miles north of San Diego.

From San Diego
Take I-5 north. Exit at Oso Parkway and turn left. From Oso, turn left onto La Paz Road. Turn right onto Avila, and turn left at the first traffic light (marked Federal Building Parking).

From Los Angeles
Take I-5 south or 405 south. Exit at La Paz Road and turn right. Turn right onto Avila, and turn left at the first traffic light (marked Federal Building Parking).

By Train

Take the Metrolink Orange County Line train to the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station. Take OCTA Bus 490 Northbound to the Chet Holifield Federal Building (Avila Road and Heather Ridge).

Please Note: Service to the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station and connecting bus service is generally limited to the early morning and late afternoon. See the Metrolink and Orange County Transit Authority web sites for schedules.

Also, please note that while Amtrak does stop at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station, the OCTA Bus 490 schedule does not coincide with the arrival of these trains. Also, bus service from the Irvine or San Juan Capistrano stations can take from 60 to 90 minutes and do not go directly to the Chet Holifield Federal Building.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Closed Federal holidays.

Extended hours
First Saturday each month, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
