Washington, Dec 4, 2006 -

Today, Congressman Geoff Davis issued the following statement on the importance of Delta to Northern Kentucky and U.S. Airways’ Bid to take over Delta:

"The U.S. Airways’ bid to take over Delta Airlines is of great concern to me and the people of the Fourth District.  Delta’s hub and Comair’s headquarters in Northern Kentucky provides an estimated 10,000 jobs and helps facilitate nearly $4 billion in commerce for Northern Kentucky and the surrounding region.

“Delta has worked diligently through challenging economic times and is poised to exit bankruptcy as a strong, competitive, stand-alone carrier next year.  It is in the best interests of Delta’s employees, customers and local businesses for Delta and Comair to remain in Northern Kentucky for years to come.”

Congressman Davis has written to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters and U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales asking them to conduct a full and careful review of U.S. Airways’ bid. A copy of these letters are attached.
