Technical Assistance Conference Calls Oct 3, 10, and 17 to Help Applicants
Prepare Museums for America Proposals

Museums for America Grant Program Guidelines Available on IMLS Web site
(Grant Application Deadline: November 15, 2006)

Washington, DC--To help museums throughout the country learn more about how the Museums for America (MFA) program can help advance their institution’s mission and strategic goals, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has scheduled several technical assistance conference calls. Application guidelines are available on the IMLS website. The application deadline is November 15, 2006.

MFA grants strengthen a museum’s ability to serve the public more effectively by supporting high-priority activities that advance the museum’s mission and strategic goals. It is the largest funding program for museums at IMLS, providing more than $17 million in grants. IMLS seeks to distribute MFA grants across all types and sizes of museums, in all parts of the country.

IMLS has scheduled four audio-conference calls to give prospective applicants an opportunity to ask the IMLS staff questions pertaining to the MFA grant program. We have used this audio-conference format for other IMLS grant programs with great success and anticipate this will be equally beneficial. The first call will be directed particularly to first-time applicants and small museums from across the country to answer general questions such as, “Is MFA right for me?” Participants will need the conference number and title below to participate:

Title: National MFA Audio Conference
Date: Tuesday, October 3, 2006
Start Time: 3:00 pm ET
Conference telephone number: (800) 274-0251

In cooperation with the regional museum associations, three regional audio-conference calls are scheduled for applicants who are further along in the application process and who have more specific questions for program officers. Participants will need the conference numbers and titles below to participate:

Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2006
