EPA supports nanotechnology research by small business. EPA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is financing over 40 projects for nearly $5 million related to nanotechnology development. These projects range from a nanocomposite-based filter for arsenic removal in drinking water to nanofibrous manganese dioxide for emission control of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
