The Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) is a non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to increase education and awareness of Malignant Hyperthermia and therefore, eliminate deaths and disabilities. Malignant hyperthermia is a syndrome triggered in susceptible persons by certain general anesthetics. Its symptoms include muscle rigidity, fever, and increased body metabolism. MHAUS offers a number of services of interest to professionals and patients alike including: a 24-hour hotline, information on treatment protocol, educational booklets, and other materials for educational purposes.
The Association publishes many pamphlets for understanding Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) and a treatment poster. Serial publication: The Communicator (newsletter), four a year: new projects and developments, fund-raising news, Q & A by the experts, report on Hotline cases, articles, and research/test developments.
