The New Mexico Department of Health coordinates the delivery of health services through its 50 local health offices. Services are generally free of charge and include health screening, counseling, information, referrals, education, limited medical care, and follow-up in the following areas: cancer prevention, tuberculosis, risk reduction, immunizations, venereal disease, reproductive services, prenatal care, child health, nutrition education, worksite health promotion, and children's medical services. The Division also operates the state's Office of Epidemiology, provides emergency medical services systems support, and coordinates chronic disease prevention and control programs, provides technical support for community based clinics, and develops and supports school health services, records vital statistics, and provides consultation to service providers. The Division conducts health education programs and health promotion for the disabled.
The Division publishes descriptions of its services and educational pamphlets.
