The Virginia Department of Health is an umbrella organization responsible for comprehensive planning and delivery of a wide variety of public health programs and family health services. Specific programs and services include water sanitation management, dissemination of toxic substance information, immunizations, disease control, supplemental nutrition programs, dental health services, maternal and child health services, public health clinics, home health services, crippled children services, and implementation of health promotion programs.
The Department publishes an annual report, vital statistics, health regulations, reports on toxic substances, and pamphlets on topics such as nutrition and family planning. Serial publication: EMS Bulletin, bi-annuallyThe Epidemiology Bulletin, monthly--a general publication.
