Congressman will spearhead Policy Committee efforts on
veterans' issues

D.C. -Rep.
Gus M. Bilirakis (R-Palm
Harbor)
has been named Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee Veterans' Affairs
Task Force. In this position, Bilirakis will spearhead the Policy Committee's
efforts to address veterans' issues. He will have the authority to conduct
hearings and arrange for speakers to educate him and his colleagues on
veterans' issues.
"I am honored and humbled that my colleagues have chosen me
to chair this vital task force," Congressman Bilirakis said. "I pledge to work
with all interested parties to drive a policy that puts veterans and their
families first, ensuring they receive the support and services they have
earned."
The current chairman of the Republican Policy Committee,
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (MI-11), had the following to say about Bilirakis'
appointment: "Gus' intelligence and integrity command the respect of our entire
Republican Conference. Like his Florida
constituents, we are all fortunate to have his talents working on behalf of
veterans of our nation."
Rep. Bilirakis is a Member of the Veterans' Affairs
Committee and has already introduced nine bills to assist veterans and their
families on a variety of issues, including employment and benefits.
