Detailed Forecast Discussion |
Today, a weak upper-level ridge of high pressure over California will result in sunny skies, warm temperatures, and reduced vertical mixing in Sacramento, increasing the formation of ground-level ozone. Additionally, smoke from wildfires in Santa Barbara County will influence the Sacramento region, leading to elevated particle levels and enhanced ozone production. These conditions, combined with weak onshore flow, will lead to high-Moderate ozone levels, with sites in the foothills possibly reaching low-Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. Tomorrow, an upper-level trough of low pressure will move over northern California, producing cooler temperatures, enhanced vertical mixing, and a moderate delta breeze. As a result, ozone levels will be Moderate. Friday, cool aloft temperatures and a moderate delta breeze will keep the atmosphere well-mixed, leading to low-Moderate ozone levels. |
