Five installations, three teams and one individual received Secretary of the Army Environmental Awards for their achievements in FY 2007. The Secretary of the Army Environmental Awards represent the highest honor conferred by the Army in the field of environmental science. Pollution prevention, restoration, environmental quality, weapon system acquisition, and cultural and natural resources conservation programs designed, implemented and managed by the awardees represent the Army's best practices in environmental stewardship.
"These Army environmental awardees are examples of how the Army is transforming its business and environmental practices to bridge today's requirements with tomorrow's needs. The awardees have improved installation efficiency and effectiveness, and therefore have helped assure operational capability for our Soldiers and an improved quality of life for their Families and surrounding communities."
