McHUGH ANNOUNCES $67K IN HOMELESS ASSISTANCE GRANTS FOR CLINTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES

U.S. Congressman John M. McHugh (R-NY) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded Clinton and Franklin Counties grants in the amount of $67,693. The funding is part of HUD’s Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance (CoC) grant program. The grants will be dispersed by the Behavioral Health Services North organization, located in Plattsburgh, and the Franklin County Community Housing Council, Inc. in Malone. Congressman McHugh’s statement follows:
“The HUD grants awarded today are a boon to organizations and agencies like Behavioral Health Services North and the Franklin County Community Housing Council that provide a boost to some of our people who need our help the most. During this season of hope and compassion, this funding will help meet basic needs and bring relief to the less fortunate.”
Background:
The $67,693 in grants is divided as follows: Franklin County Community Housing Council, Inc. – $51,269 Behavioral Health Services North / Housing North-Renewal – $8,296 Behavioral Health Services North / North Country HMIS – $8,128
The CoC programs provide funding for a range of assistance to homeless persons, including transitional housing, permanent housing and a variety of supportive services.
