U.S. Rep. Kendrick B. Meek On U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra’s Decision to Continue Serving in the U.S House of Representatives
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Kendrick B. Meek (D-FL) today released the following statement regarding Congressman Xavier Becerra’s decision to continue serving in the U.S. House of Representatives:
“Congressman Xavier Becerra is viewed as a leader by President-elect Obama, Speaker Pelosi and the entire Democratic Caucus. Whether serving in an Obama Administration or as the Representative from California’s 31st Congressional District, Congressman Becerra is above all a dedicated public servant who continues to play a vital role in our nation’s policy conversation. Over this past month, I have held numerous conversations with Congressman Becerra and my respect for him has only increased. I look forward to serving with Congressman Becerra in Congress as he helps lead our Democratic Caucus alongside our Caucus Chairman John Larson.”
U.S. Rep. Kendrick B. Meek represents the 17th Congressional District of Florida which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. He serves as the lone Floridian sitting on the House Committee on Ways and Means, and also sits on the House Armed Services Committee.
