2009 Drug Market Analyses for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Available
The National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) announces the release of 32
High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Drug Market Analyses (DMA) for 2009. These reports, produced at the request of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, provide a strategic overview of the illicit drug situation in each of the HIDTA
regions.
The 32 DMAs are:
Methamphetamine Report added
Situation Report: Pseudoephedrine Smurfing Fuels Surge in Large-Scale Methamphetamine Production in California
This Situation Report is in response to a request from the Office of National Drug Control Policy for information regarding pseudoephedrine smurfing in California. The National Drug Intelligence Center collected and analyzed data and reporting from 2007-through May 2009 related to methamphetamine production and pseudoephedrine smurfing. This report draws upon data from the National Seizure System, as well as information obtained through interviews with federal, state, and local law enforcement officers.

Excellence in Government Awards ceremony, the Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board
recognized 22 National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) employees for their “deep
personal and professional commitment” over the past year.
Multiagency Course August training sites changed
The site locations for the August Multiagency Course training have been changed:
Johnston, RI, is cancelled, and the Washington, D.C. area class will be held in Herndon,

NDIC FY08 Accomplishments announced
The National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) has consistently and effectively supported
national policymakers and law enforcement decisionmakers by providing:

high-quality strategic domestic drug intelligence;

facilitating information sharing and liaison between intelligence and
law enforcement agencies;

providing timely operational support to law
enforcement authorities by conducting document and media exploitation of
evidence collected during federal, state, and local law enforcement
investigations;

and providing training in support of the above efforts.
NDIC has been a major contributor to our nation's counternarcotics effort
and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Strategic Plan. A summary of
