Excellence in Genealogy Research Award

Excellence in Genealogy Research Award Applications Being Accepted

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST March 1, 2009
Award winners will be announced at the National Archives Genealogy Fair in April 2009

Entries should include an original, unpublished work between 1,000 and 3,000 words that demonstrates the use of National Archives holdings to conduct genealogical research. The awards are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place. Open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning in the United States who have completed at least one semester and have not advanced to candidacy in a Ph.D. program. Winning articles may be published in Prologue, the quarterly magazine of the National Archives, and/or on the National Archives web site.

National History Day

NARA Announces its Sponsorship of National History Day Prizes

Award winners will be announced at the national competition, June 14-18, 2009
University of Maryland, College Park, MD

The National Archives is sponsoring two awards at the National History Day competition in honor of its anniversary. The contest is open to secondary school students; $1,000 will be awarded at the junior and senior levels for outstanding entries in any category that use the records of the Federal Government to either illuminate the creation and ratification of the U.S. Constitution or to focus on Constitutional issues throughout American History.
