Congressman Dent congratulates region’s Service Academy students

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) announced that 16 area students nominated by the Congressman will attend U.S. Service Academies this year.

Each year, Congressman Dent nominates a number of exceptional high school students from the Fifteenth Congressional District who are interested in attending the Academies. The students are interviewed by the Congressman’s nominating committee, which consists of current and retired military personnel, as well as parents of Academy students, all of whom reside locally. Once nominated, the students must also meet the Academy’s requirements for appointment.

“Nominating these outstanding young people to a Service Academy is truly an honor,” Congressman Dent said. “These students are remarkable individuals who restore one’s faith in America’s youth and in this nation’s future. I congratulate each of them on this proud achievement and I thank them for their commitment to serving our country.”

This year’s nominees, listed by the Academy they will attend, are:

As of the beginning of the 2009-10 school year, a total 41 students from the 15th District will be attending the nation’s four service academies (plus the Military Academy Preparatory School). All have been nominated since Congressman Dent took office in 2005.
