Congressman Garrett Secures Authorization For Federal Assistance to Greenwood Lake
Washington,
Apr 20, 2007 -
Congressman Garrett succeeded yesterday in securing an authorization for federal support to the Greenwood Lake to combat the explosion in invasive aquatic plant life that limits recreational use and impairs water quality. The Water Resources Development Act passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 394 to 25.
Congressman Garrett successfully secured nearly $296,000 in federal funding for the Greenwood Lake clean-up last year.
Following the vote, Congressman Garrett said, “I am pleased that Congress has again recognized the threat posed to Greenwood Lake and is continuing to support my efforts to protect this important natural resource. I will be working with the Appropriations Committee to follow through on this authorization and grant another installment of urgently needed federal funding this year.”
