WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) released this statement following the tragic crash of two Metro trains yesterday:

“My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones in yesterday’s metro crash. My gratitude goes to the first responders who worked so hard to save lives. Metro is a vital part of life in our region. The Metro Area Transit Authority and National Transportation Safety Board must find answers to why this terrible accident happened – and take steps to improve safety – so this never happens again. I will continue to work to provide the resources Metro needs to improve safety, services and its aging infrastructure.”
