Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection & Restoration Act

Information about all CWPPRA projects can be found on this Web site. This information is updated regularly.

Projects are currently broken down by:

  • Project Name - Each project has a unique project name that identifies it. You can search for a specific project in this way.
  • Basin - The Louisiana coastal zone was divided into nine hydrologic basins:
    • Pontchartrain
    • Breton Sound
    • Mississippi River Delta
    • Barataria
    • Terrebonne
    • Atchafalaya
    • Teche / Vermilion
    • Mermentau
    • and Calcasieu / Sabine

    These basins represent the basic components for initiating restoration plan development. 

  • Agency - The CWPPRA Taskforce is made up of five federal agencies
    • Department of Agriculture
    • Department of Commerce
    • Department of Army
    • Department of Interior
    • and Environmental Protection Agency

    and the state of Louisiana. Each project has a federal sponsor, and can be searched for using these criteria.

  • Priority Project List - The CWPPRA Taskforce annually develops a list of high-priority projects to be constructed. To date, thirteen such priority lists have been formulated.
A variety of information is available for each project. This includes:
  • Project Overviews and Plans
  • Monitoring Plans
  • Progress Reports
  • Aerial Photography for project sites (as they become available)
  • Land Loss Maps (as available)
  • 1993 Spot Imagery is available for every project site.
Each project contains contact information which will allow a representative of the proper agencies to provide further information on the projects when requested.
