Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement on the Democrat Fiscal Year 2009 federal budget proposal:

"Their reckless and irresponsible proposal demonstrates their priorities – big spending and big tax hikes. With gas prices continuing to soar, healthcare costs rising, and other costs of living continuing to go up, American families do not need another raid on their wallets because of the majority’s lack of fiscal discipline. Instead of facing the real issues like providing tax relief, providing appropriate funding to fight the ongoing Global War of Terrorism, and eliminating wasteful spending, Democrats plan to increase taxes, overlook earmark abuse, and find new ways to expand entitlements. It’s been almost 3 weeks since the Protect America Act expired, which has left America vulnerable to attacks from terrorists. Democrats are putting American lives at risk by refusing to pass the bipartisan Senate legislation to renew our intelligence capabilities.
