LAMBORN APPLAUDS SUPREME COURT DECISION TO SHOOT DOWN D.C. GUN BAN

Congressman Lamborn expresses his agreement with the Supreme Court decision to overturn the unconstitutional D.C. Gun Ban

Washington, Jun 26, 2008 -

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement following today’s Supreme Court decision to overturn the unconstitutional D.C. Gun Ban:

“Our Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights and the Constitution to protect our fundamental freedoms as American citizens. Never would our founders have imagined that more than 200 years later the right they listed second among the Bill of Rights, the right to bear arms, would be eroded. In recent years, liberal extremists and activist judges have steadily been chipping away at the Second Amendment, in turn limiting the right of individual American citizens to bear arms.

“For the first time in our nation’s history, the United States Supreme Court weighed in on the debate on whether individual citizens have an individual Constitutional right to possess firearms.  Today’s historic decision in the District of Columbia v. Heller reaffirmed that our Second Amendment right extends to individual citizens.” – Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
