Lamborn Announces Air Force to Bring New Acquisition Center to Colorado Springs

Center to be Operational by 2010

Washington, Oct 10, 2008 -

Congressman Lamborn (CO-05) issued a statement on the Air Force’s decision to locate a new installation acquisition center for the northwest region in Colorado Springs.

This regional center will be located at Peterson AFB and will be operational in 2010.

The center is expected to employ up to 300 personnel, both military and civilian and will serve eight Western states. The Air Force has not yet disclosed how many of these jobs will be new to the area, and how many will involve reassignment from personnel already stationed in the area.

“In addition to bringing high-paying jobs, this new center will serve as an important resource for our defense community. The Air Force’s decision to locate the regional center in Colorado Springs is evidence of the increasingly critical role our District plays in national defense. I look forward to working with the Air Force to ensure a smooth transition.”  -- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

This new center is part of a comprehensive organizational change within Air Force acquisitions management. The center in Colorado Springs will be one of five regional centers located across the country. The Air Force expects these changes will create increased visibility, accountability and consistency in the acquisition process and improve support to the customer.
