Goshen, NY – U.S. Rep. John Hall (D-NY19) and State Senator John Bonacic (R-SD42) will bring the Federal Highway Administration to tour proposed I-84 crash gate sites with the Wawayanda and Greenville Fire Departments TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 2nd. Bonacic and the fire departments have been working with Hall to gain federal approval for two proposed crash gate sites on Interstate 84 at County Route 49, and a crash gate off of Decker Drive at mile marker 9.1.
Building crash gates in the proposed locations along I-84 would allow the Wawayanda and Greenville Fire Departments to get to highway accidents faster during emergencies.
Hall is bringing the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to the proposed locations so they can see firsthand the safety need for the sites. FHWA has to authorize the crash gates in order for them to be built by the New York Department of Transportation (DOT).
Prior to the tour, Hall will bring all the parties together to discuss the crash gates and the safety issues at the Wawayanda Fire Department.
