Purpose

By doing this study, we hope to learn more about heart failure and it's treatment from studying cardiac tissue (how the tissue works and the genetic (gene) trends associated with heart failure

Study Start Date:	June 2008
Estimated Study Completion Date:	June 2011
Estimated Primary Completion Date:	June 2009 (Final data collection date for primary outcome measure)

Intervention Details:

Obtaining tissue samples from heart surgery patients for studying cardiac tissue and the genetic trends associated with heart failure

Detailed Description:

The research procedures will be conducted at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from tissue samples obtained during heart surgery.

Eligibility

Ages Eligible for Study:	18 Years and older
Genders Eligible for Study:	Both
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:	No

Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

Patients with heart failure that are about to undergo surgery of the heart

Exclusion Criteria:

Under the age of 18 years of age
