Washington, Jun 4, 2008 -

(Washington, DC) This week, U.S. Representative Scott Garrett hosted a kick off event to launch the 5th Congressional District’s Veterans History Project.  This project, which was created in 2000 by Congress, is aimed at collecting oral history interviews, memoirs, letters, diaries, photographs, and other original materials from veterans who served our country.

In response to this project, Garrett stated:

“It is truly a privilege to have the opportunity to sit with and hear the testimonies of individuals who sacrificed their lives and comfort for our country.  These men and women fought and defended our nation’s values and freedom so that we can continue to treasure them for years to come. I look forward to meeting more veterans and hearing the life changing testimonies of these brave individuals.”

Rep. Garrett interviewed Mr. James Anagnost of River Vale, NJ.  Mr. Anagnost served in the Army in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge where he received a Bronze Star for his efforts.

The next Veterans History Project event will take place on Tuesday, July 1st at 9 am – 11 am at the Tice Senior and Community Center, 411 Chestnut Ridge Road, Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677.
