Gus Observes Earth Day with Students in Hillsborough PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday, in recognition of the 38th anniversary of Earth Day, Gus joined students in school throughout Hillsborough County as they set a world record for the most trees planted within an hour on Earth Day.

The Tampa Tribune was there to cover the event...

Thirty-eight Adams Middle School students got on the ground for Earth Day on April 22, digging holes around a courtyard's perimeter so they each could plant a tree. They joined schools across Hillsborough County to try to set a record for the number of trees planted in one hour on one day.

The company PunchlistComplete.com donated 12,000 longleaf pine seedlings, enough to provide 38 seedlings to each Hillsborough school, in honor of Earth Day's 38th anniversary. All schools planted them between 11 a.m. and noon.
